CISPASSAIC

Communities In Schools of Passaic was established at the request of the Passaic school district to address the 21% retention rate of kindergarten students in the William B, Cruise Elementary School.

CISNJ partnered with United Passaic Organization, and instituted:

•afterschool tutoring

•summer enrichment

•parent outreach

Within one year, a 100% promotion rate was achieved.

Highlights

Several years ago CIS of Passaic's K-3 Early Intervention Program was expanded to Schools #6, #7, and the Early Childhood Center as a result or early intervention's success at helping a largely bilingual population master the skills necessary for the promotion to the next grade.
