Communities In Schools of New Jersey (CISNJ)

Molina School / Camden

In serving almost 200 students, Communities in Schools of NJ (CISNJ) at the Molina School in Camden helps young people immerse themselves in homework help and other academic instruction, character education, computer learning, trips and recreational activities, and arts education including music, dance, visual arts, and drama. CISNJ also provides drug, violence , and gang awareness programs and creates opportunities for parents to become effective partners in their children’s education.

This year, Molina students embarked a month - long “ Journey to Peace” that culminated in a march through the streets of Camden celebrating peace and hope in their neighborhood. The “Journey to Peace” program was part of the 20th annual Global Youth Service Day, an international service event that celebrates, recognizes and mobilizes the contributions that young people make to their communities every day.

Over the course of the month-long journey, students wrote poems, choreographed dances, and creat ed original artwork to reflect their own Journey to Peace. The march through Camden included the Molina students as well as 100 other students from nearby CISNJ afterschool programs.
